Goodbye Xmas – hello +mas!
Xmas is rubbish, and everyone knows it. Not Christmas – Christmas is fantastic. I’m talking about the word Xmas – it’s awful. It feels negative, cheap, tacky… It is short, and that is in its favour, but other than that, no-one likes it. If you use it, I judge you, and you go down in my estimation.
So the creative minds at KentLyons have given Xmas a rebrand. We present to you:
Gone is the negative X, replaced with a positive plus symbol. It suggests moreness, indulgence, getting together, making things bigger and better. It evokes the need to get a bigger tree, have more people round, eat and drink more… all the good things about Christmas. It loses some of the religiosity of Xmas, which in a multi-faith, secular society can only be a good thing, and it nods to what Christmas is much more aligned to – consumerism. It also sounds better phonetically (“plusmas” or “addmas” instead of “exmas”).
So this year, if you’re in a hurry, or short of space, use +mas instead of Xmas. It’s much nicer.
Merry +mas!
