Spotify App Test

For quite a while we’ve been running Spotifriday in the KentLyons studio. We choose a subject (Animals, Mothers, Lost… the subjects are pretty random), and everyone has to choose 3 tracks on Spotify. There are some rules (no repeats, one track per artist, you have to actually like the song), but it often yields some nice results.

When Spotify announced the release of Spotify apps we immediately wanted to play with them. We’ve ended up creating a neat (if pretty simple) Spotify app that lets you choose to listen to a whole Spotifriday playlist, or choose individual songs from a playlist, or add the playlist to your Spotify. The app isn’t available (Spotify apps are limited, and Spotify are in control of the release process), but we’ve got a video you can have a look at to see how it works.

It turns out Spotify apps are relatively easy and fast to develop, and with the right idea, could be really exciting.

Hey Dai -Its HTML5 / CSS3. Spotify runs chromium, which is webkit, so you can do a lot of nice things off the bat. They have their own Javascript API too.
